In 1922, six nurses founded STTI at the Indiana University Training School for Nurses, which is now the Indiana University School of Nursing, in Indianapolis, Ind., USA. The founders chose the name from the Greek words storgé, tharsos, and timé, meaning love, courage, and honor.

Our Omega Rho At-Large chapter celebrates and adds to the difference six people can make in the world by promoting our Fall Volunteer service project with the Alzheimer's Walk.  This helps with Global Goal #3 Good Health and Well-being for all.  Memory issues affect humans in every area, class, and race.

Walks are available in October and even November is warmer areas like Phoenix and Florida-- Hey an excuse to Travel!

  • LISTEN-- Cultivating Cultural Humanity: RESPECT: 2023-25 SIGMA Call to Action

“Listening without bias or distraction is the greatest value you can pay to another person.” -Unknown

To cultivate is to acquire, develop, demonstrate, and define. As a caring culture we have an opportunity to model keys to cultivating cultural humility, as we commit to:

Listen - Through an ongoing process of compassionate self-awareness, others' awareness, self-evaluation, and self-critique.

Poor nutrition is the leading cause of chronic disease and disability plaguing the US and many other nations today. Lifestyle medicine uses evidence-based therapeutic interventions and highlights the plant-predominant diet to address the root cause of illness. The care manager and nursing role is vital to empower patients to take control of their health to prevent and in many cases, greatly improve chronic illness.
